The God Who Weeps: Clark This is a perfect book for those seeking to learn more about how the Christian story of Jesus and the concept of God isn’t necessarily unique. Latter-day Saints and those familiar with the LDS Church will find this book especially relevant as Mormonism is also discussed in this context as the author is a former Latter-day Saint. The founder of MormonThink was privileged to receive an advance copy of the book and wrote this forward in the inside cover: Latter-day Saints will especially benefit from Clark’s insights, as it pertains to their own experience with Mormonism.

Ryan Dube They are accurate based on a large number of sources, many of which were not even cited for this article. The majority of the discomfort seems to come from the fact that many Mormons here feel the portrayal of those beliefs is inaccurate — which may be a valid argument. Discussing with our editor now.
Or is it to isolate Mormonism from the mainstream by making it look odd and bizarre?

Kimball said, “Every young man should fill a mission”. Hinckley had suggested that a mission is not to be a rite of passage, this cultural aspect remains. Young men between the ages of 18 and 25 who meet standards of worthiness are strongly encouraged to consider a two-year, full-time proselytizing mission. Rethinking the Judicial Decision – Dan Vogel Urim and Thummim Some accounts refer to the seer stones as a pair of stones set in eye frames to resemble spectacles Joseph himself writing in his own hand, …the Lord had prepared spectticke spectacles for to read the Book therefore I commenced translating the characters… History, circa Summer , The Joseph Smith Papers.
Other accounts refer to a single seer stone by itself, such as this one by Emma Smith, saying that the translating process had Joseph sitting with his face buried in his hat, with the stone in it, and dictating hour after hour with nothing between us… Emma Smith Bidamon Interview with Joseph Smith III, February Published as “Last Testimony of Sister Emma,” Saints’ Herald 26 1 October Apparently the spectacle version was with the plates in the stone box.
Some accounts state that they were only used for translating just the first pages of the Book of Mormon and were then taken from Joseph by the angel along with the plates, although there is no direct evidence that Joseph used the spectacle version of the Urim and Thummim for translating even the first pages of the BOM. The accounts were reported in some newspapers but the reporters likely confused the spectacle version with the seer stone version as many Latter-day Saints did.
The angel returned the plates but not the spectacle “Urim and Thummim”. After this, Joseph used the single seer stone that he had in his possession from before the Book of Mormon plates were retrieved. However, Oliver Cowdery, who was scribe for nearly all of the Book of Mormon except the lost pages only gives account of the Urim and Thummim which he always equates with the “Nephite Interpreters.
See the section immediately below titled, “Seer stone, spectacles, interpreters and Urim and Thummim confusion,” for more problems.
Notes Native American tradition combined with scientific decoding methods indicate that “rock art” is really a sophisticated form of writing. The life-long research into Native American petroglyphs by LaVan Martineau, an orphan adopted into the Paiute tribe of southeastern Nevada and southwestern Utah, has resulted in detailed interpretations of the rock writings. His work, culminating in an interpretation of the famous Hopi Prophecy Rock, demonstrates a much greater information content in these picture-based drawings than was previously recognized.

A visitor of this religious area finds himself surrounded with symbols esoterically associated with Black Magic, evil or ancient paganism. Inverted Pentagram The exterior of the Temple contains numerous symbols which are not simply remnants of ancient paganism but directly associated with evil.
The most blatant symbol is the inverted pentagram. This symbol is found all around Temple Square, in multiple forms. An upright pentagram stands for the five elements, protection against malignant spirits and is an embodiment of the Golden Proportion.
I will now return to Joseph’s recital.
Ultimately, God will reveal what is true in such matters and we must trust him for our answers. There is no correspondence whatever between archeological sites and cultures as revealed by scientific investigations and as recorded in the Book of Mormon, hence the book cannot be regarded as having any historical value from the standpoint of the aboriginal peoples of the New World.
